Choco replaces late-night phone calls and endless order sheets with one app where restaurants order and chat with their distributors.
The product has to work in a loud kitchen, on a small screen, at the end of a long shift. That sets the bar: fast, clear and forgiving.
Outcome
Choco became a unicorn in 3.5 years.
Inside the product
What the Choco app does
01
Ordering that feels like messaging
Restaurants already order by message, so the app is built the same way. Every supplier is a conversation, from seafood and dairy to wine, meat, bakery and coffee, with the latest message, the time and read ticks visible in the list.
- One thread per supplier, with an icon for each category
- Last message, time and read ticks visible at a glance
- Questions and order changes sit in the same place as the order

02
Order guides
A new order starts from the products a restaurant buys all the time. Search sits on top, categories run across as chips, and each product shows its photo, pack size and price, with quantity and unit set right in the row.
- Search and category chips, with a way to add new categories
- Product photo, pack size and price in every row
- Quantity and unit, such as case or sack, set in place

03
Together with your team
Orders are shared, not passed around. A new order card inside the conversation shows the delivery date and number of products, with a link to the details, and the team and the supplier can talk it through in the same thread.
- Order summary card inside the chat
- Delivery date and product count at a glance
- Team members and suppliers in one thread

04
Multiple locations
Group owners switch between restaurants from one screen. Each location is a tile with its logo, name and address, and a badge flags where something needs attention.
- Location tiles with logo, name and address
- Badges flag activity at each location
- Settings one tap away

The work
What the work covered
UX
Mapped how restaurants and suppliers already order, by message and by phone, and shaped the flows around it: building an order from a guide, ordering from many suppliers and sharing orders with the team across locations.
UI
Designed the mobile interface: the supplier conversation list, order guides led by product photography and the order card in the thread, in Choco's confident blue and navy.
Design System
Built the component library behind the app, from lists and category chips to order cards and chat bubbles, so a growing set of screens stays consistent.
